NOTES: |
The newspaper article about Bennett Wasserman's death said this about Max Judd:
"The sudden death of Mr. Wasserman forcibly reminded his friends
of the death of his brother-in-law, Max Judd, which occurred
seven months ago under very similar conditions. Not only were
the two men related by marriage, but they were much attached to
each other. They were men of very similar tastes and were
associated in fraternal and charity work."
10
"In his time this Max Judd was one of the best chess players in the land. He beat Zukertort (then considered champion of the world) a number of times when Zukertort toured America in 1884. Also Max Judd contested with relative success in a number of American championships and helped organizing chess events of all kinds." 19 |
