Here is a really brief summary of Genesis and Exodus up to the 10 Commandments. You can use this if you want to give your students a higher view of what led up to Moses getting the 10 Commandments from God.

God created everything including Adam and Eve the first people.
Adam and Eve disobey God, thus sin and Original Sin enter the world.
Adam and Eve have to leave the lovely Garden of Eden and work for a living.
Adam and Eve have many children.
One son, Abel, is good. His brother Cain is jealous and kills him. More sin in the world.
Many generations later there are a lot of people and God sees that there is much sin.
God sees that Noah is good so he tells him to build an Ark. Then he sends a flood to start over.
Many generations later there is a man named Abraham who listens to God. He and his wife Sarah have no children.
God promises Abraham a son and many descendants who will be his chosen people, but they are still childless and Sarah is getting old.
God keeps his promise, and Abraham and Sarah have a son Isaac. Isaac has 2 sons, Jacob and Esau.
Jacob has 12 sons. His favorite is Joseph. Joseph's brothers are jealous and sell him into salvery in Egypt.
Joseph does well in Egypt and ends up a servant of the Pharoah (what they call the king in Egypt).
There is a famine and only Egypt has food, due to God's advice the Joseph which Joseph tells Pahroah.
Joseph's brothers come to Egypt to buy food and meet Joseph. Joseph forgives them and Jacob and all his sons and their families move to Egypt.
Many generations later, the descendant's of Jacob are now slaves in Egypt and miserable.
The new Pharoah orders the children of Jacob's descendants to be killed.
Moses' mother saves him in a basket in the river. Pharoah's daughter finds Moses and raises him in the palace.
Moses sees a soldier kill a slave and kills the soldier. Gets in big trouble and runs away into the desert.
Moses gets married and raises sheep and goats in the desert.
One day he sees a strange site - a bush burning but not burning up. It is God.
God tells him to go back to Egypt and free his people.
So Moses goes back to Egypt, and after 9 plagues and the Angel of Death killing the first born son of the Egyptians, finally gets them freed.
The people of God enter the desert where God feeds them every day with Mana.
Are they happy? No. Are they good? No. They grumble and complain. They say they don't know what God wants them to do.
So Moses asks God what to tell the people. God gives Moses the 10 Commandments so that they know what they need to do and not do.

No. ¿Son buenos? No. Se quejan y refunfuñan.

The memorization for today is the Ten Commandments. You may have started them last week. You may want to split them in half or even thirds and ask them to memorize them over the next weeks if you think that will work better.

Saints / Santos

The recommended saint for this class is to talk about Moses.
