"The trip was made in a covered wagon, two other families comprising the party, Carl Hermes and Peter Bernard. A number of Indians were encountered en route."
NOTES: Anne, Johann, Heinrich, Margaretha, and Johann (or George?) Achter appear on July 5, 1857 on the Charlotte A. Stamler traveling from Antwerp to New York. (Heinrich was not on the same ship. Maybe he came earlier?) (Was the second Johann George? If not, did George come with his father earlier?) Catherine Acther also travelled with them. Could she have been Johann's first wife? 22
