NOTES: He went to school in Dacada and stayed with his grandparents ("probably got into too much mischief in the city"). He fought in WW I in France. George Jr. fought in WW II with the Marine Corps in the Phillipines. He was captured at Bataan and endured the Death March and three and a half years captivity in Japanese prison camps. He was released when the atom bomb was used. He didn't like the German connotations of being a "Heine" and changed to the more anglicized version of Fisher. He and his mother Mary and daughter Margarite would often visit Jake and Pearl Hansan in Oshkosh and Frank Hansen's family in North Chicago. 1
