The back of this picture reads: "Josie. Agnes Gilboe, age 15." Which I interpret to mean that this picture was given to Josephine Gilboe and it is of Agnes Gilboe at age 15, which would mean it was taken about 1890. The picture is mounted on cardboard and the bottom says: platino finish "C. Krueger & Co., Brown St., Rhinelander, Wis."

In keeping with the trend toward more vocational education, and upon recommendation of the vocational division, the board of education at its last meeting approved establishment of a federal Smith-Hughes vocational agriculture department. Most high schools in central Minnesota already have vocational agriculture courses or plan to add them to their curriculum. Cost of instructor's salary and other incidental expenses are largely reimbursable through federal and state funds.
A vocational agriculture course will provide a four-year program for in-school youth, special evening classes for adults, leadership for F.F.A. and 4-H clubs, veterans training, and community service.
Harvey B. Gilboe, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and Minnesota, has accepted appointment to head this department. Mr. Gilboe has 17 years of school experience, 12 as vocational ag instructor and 5 as principal of schools. The past 7 years he has been with the Carnation Milk Company as field man in educational and promotional work but has resigned that position to take over his duties here beginning July 1.
